A responsible horse owner has to be properly informed about horse care information and basic guidelines to ensure a happy, long life for his horse. By nature, horses are meant to graze in open spaces. They are used to moving around in herds. When they are forced to live in a stable, they somehow manage to adapt. But they still need the companionship and exercise that they get from the open fields.
Like any animal, it is important to provide them with horse vitamins and minerals to supplement their daily diet. Vitamin C helps to fight infection and aids in snake bite. Magnesium is useful in horses and ponies with cresty necks and fat deposits. The magnesium helps to break them down. Horses also need to have salt available to them at all times. In the summer they need it to replace the salt lost through sweating and in winter they need it to ensure they drink enough water to prevent colic.
