One of the things you have to do when having someone cremated is to choose the vessel in which you will keep the ashes. There is quite an abundance of choices. Most are beautiful and affordable. Aside from the looks of the urn you will also have to decide on the size. The size of the urn is usually based on the weight of the dead person. The rule of thumb is that a pound of weight will result in a cubic inch of ashes.

The more popular funeral urns are those made of brass, metal and wood. Any of these materials can be engraved on. It can be carved with beautiful sketches but most important of all it will carry the name of the person and date of his death. It can even contain a few lines of endearment. The importance of this is that it will forever be etched on the urn as well as in memories of those he left behind.
