handmade urn

Death is never an easy topic to talk about. But when my dad was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer a few months ago, he gathered all of his children and told us his wishes. Although it was very painful for all of us to be there, we couldn’t do anything but do his bidding. Dad wanted to be cremated like our mom.

My brother, who has a buddy that owns a funeral parlor and crematorium, was told to order a handmade urn for our father’s ashes. Dad wanted to be laid to rest beside mom’s urn which sits on top of the family home’s fireplace mantle. Hard as everything may seem, we just take comfort that our father seem to have accepted his impending death and has already made peace with himself.
