Size is just one factor to consider when buying a saddle. When buying one of those Cutter Western saddles, remember these general rules of thumb:

  • A Western saddle seat size has nothing to do with how the saddle fits the horse. Instead, it refers to rider fit.
  • Ensure that there are approximately four inches between the front of your body and the saddle fork.
  • Your bottom should rest on the base of, not pressed against the back of the cantle.
  • Normally, it’s better to have a saddle that is a tad too big than a tad too small.
