More and more people today are getting non-traditional pets. One of the more popular of the non-traditional pets is the ferret. It comes from the same family as the skunk and the mink. Before buying one, make sure you do some research about ferrets especially about their health. They are prone to ferret skin problems. They are also susceptible to respiratory ailments as well as heart problems.
Ferrets are active little creatures. They are cuddly and very affectionate. Their lifespan is between 7 to 10 years. Like most creatures they are prone to mites. As a result, ferret skin problems will result in severe itching and hair loss.
