ferret skin care

Ferrets have a reputation of smelling stinky. While it is true that these animals have a distinct musky odor, it is neither offensive nor overpowering. This smell comes from their skin glands and remains to be present whether the ferret is descented or not. Frequent bathing will not reduce the scent.

Be aware of proper ferret skin care if you are a ferret owner. It is recommended that you only give your pet occasional baths as too frequent bathing may make the skin get too dry. If this happens, the skin glands will produce more oils in an effort to combat the dryness and will likely make the ferret scent more pronounced.
