No matter what age you bring your puppy home, the important thing to keep in mind is that they are ready to learn. Training a puppy just needs patience and practice. Here are some sound and helpful tips on how to train a puppy:

~Teach your puppy to respond to his name being called. Start by calling the puppy’s name as you feed him his meals so that the puppy starts to associate his or her name with his food.~Use the crate method when house training. This way you can tap into the puppy’s natural desire to be clean and not soil the area in which he sleeps.~Set aside time to take the new puppy out. Watch them go and bring them back in so that the puppy begins to understand how you want them to handle their natural urges.~Decide what word or phrase you would like to associate with his behavior or action that you desire. It could be “hurry up”, or “go potty” and carry on to repeat the phrase until he goes, praising him/her when it happens, your puppy will learn to associate these words with the action.
