Who says pets don’t have sport? They have! Dog especially deserve activities to enjoy, learn and interact with other pets. Called the dog agility, this is a dog sport wherein a certain handler directs the dog via an obstacle course in a race for both time and precision.. In this fun pet activity, the dogs generally run off-leash without food or toys. Like any game, the main rule is that the handler is not allowed to touch his dog neither the obstacles. His control is very limited to voice, movement and several body signals that require impressive training of the pet.
Prior to the competition, the handler assesses the course, decides on handling strategies, and directs the dog through the course with precision and speed equally contributing important factors. There are innumerable tactics existing to pay off for the innate difference in human and dog speeds and the strengths and weaknesses of the various dogs and handlers. During the game proper, handlers are provided with printed maps to help them plan their course strategy. Also called the course map, this contains objects indicating position and orientation of the obstacles and numbers determining the order where the obstacles take place.
