The canine is the animal with the most species or breeds. Most breeds today can be traced to one parent dog. As a result of these inbreeding, dogs are susceptible to a lot of ailments. The most common of these dog illnesses are skin diseases and hip problems. That is why vets are always checking the hips of your dog.

As a rule of thumb, bigger dogs are more susceptible to dog illnesses than smaller dogs. Bigger dogs tend to dislocate their hips more than smaller dogs. Another common problem with the dog is skin disease. More often it is the food they eat. Dry skin will lead to itching and to open wounds. Open wounds will lead to infection. If you see your dog scratching because of dry skin, have it treated right away. If left untreated, it might lead to mites which will leave you a hole in your pocket because of the vet bills.
