Your dog can really be your best friend. Remember Hachiko? He was owned by an old Japanese professor. Hachiko walked with him to the train station on his way to work and fetched him when he came home. He did this every single working day until the professor died. Even when the professor was gone, Hachiko did his routine.

People who knew the professor took it upon themselves to take care of Hachiko. They provided dog bowls filled with his favorite food. He was never without a warm bed at night. Even if he still did his routine every day, he was a sad dog. When he eventually died, he was honored with a bronze sculpture in the Shibuya Station in Tokyo.
