Have you ever watched a dog getting ready to sleep? First, he will tend to circle around. Then he will trample down on his blanket, seemingly arranging and re-arranging it. Dog experts say that these habits are reminiscent of when his ancestors had to live in the wilds. They would trample down vegetation and grass to create a bed. Our pet dogs are more fortunate in that they are supplied with dog couches for a comfortable sleep, but the habit is still manifested in how they move around their blankets.

It is important to choose the right couch for your dog. Size will definitely be a factor; but more than size, the shape of the couch also matters. Dogs who like to stretch out when they sleep will profit from a rectangular shaped couch. Dogs who curl up to sleep will be more comfortable in a circular couch. Couches are available in various materials. Choose one that will work with the temperature in your location and that is easy to wash.
