Choose Your Dogs Collar with Care

Be sure to get the right kind when buying your dog a collar. The most important thing to consider is the size of the collar. Large dogs will need bigger sized collars made of strong materials. You should also get one with a thicker width. Smaller dogs can do with a lighter and less sturdy collar.

Consider also why you are buying the collar in the first place. If it is just to hang an ID from, you will need a simple collar made of nylon or light leather. It doesn’t have to be too thick, either. If you are in the store to get a dog collar to help in training, you will need something different. Maybe a rolled leather dog collar will be just the right thing. Maybe a choke collar will work best. This is basically a slip knot that is placed over the dog’s head. It tightens up every time they pull against the leash. They will eventually learn that pulling hard on their leash is not a good thing.
