Bird Toys for Different Purposes

Remember that birds are meant to be out in the wilds. Once they are cooped up in a cage, they will be missing all the action that they are naturally prepared for. By taking care of a caged bird, you need to provide it with activities that will approximate what it should be doing if he were out on his own. Providing it with bird toys is one way of accomplishing this. There are many kinds out there. Choose ones that are just right for your kind of bird.

There are four different kinds of bird toys. The first kinds are toys that they can destroy. Destructible chewing bird toys include branches with bark, milled wood, chipped wood, raffia, straw, cork, leather, paper, jute, hemp, cotton or other natural materials. Some bird toys appeal to this social creature’s instinct to communicate. Bells are the most common and easily accessible sound-related toys. Some toys fill the bird’s need to interact. Beads are a favorite component of many interactive bird toys. Parrots love manipulating beads of all shapes and sizes. Finally, birds need to exercise. Give them swings and perches that they can have a grip on.
